Long Time Comin'

It's been a long time comin'
I watched the days, turn into years
It's been a long time comin'
but the day is finally here

the load I'd borne
was worth the weight
the times were tough
at times
were great
the time has come at long last now
to break free from the chains of cripplin' doubt
to be yourself and walk ahead
no bother to the otter or what your father'd said
it's been a long time comin' (it's here)

I spent a long time runnin'
& I, nearly outran the fear
I spent a long time runnin'
but I found my place, I'm finally here

the load I'd borne
was worth the weight
the times were tough
at times
were great
the time has come at long last now
to break free from the chains of cripplin' doubt
to be yourself and walk ahead
no bother to the otter or what your father'd said
it's been a long time comin' (it's here)

I've been a long time strummin'
for empty rooms, where no one would hear
I've been a long time strummin'
Stompin' & Cursin', just tryin' to buy me some beer

the load I'd borne
was worth the weight
the times were tough
at times
were great
the time has come at long last now
to break free from the chains of cripplin' doubt
to be yourself and walk ahead
no bother to the otter or what your father'd said
it's been a long time comin' (it's here)

The Miracle of Life

For the first time in 4 years I missed my monthly blog post... Although I'm pretty sure nobody noticed, I feel obligated to acknowledge this state of affairs and say that this post will stand to represent August, 2017. Thanks for stopping by.

The Miracle of Life

83' when god made me
Found me a mother and a father
Taught me to believe
Gave me all of their love
& Half of their time

An older brother to walk ahead
Taught me to really listen, through that old tape deck
He put the music in me
Allowed me to sing
He put the music in me...
And gave me everything

Always coming, Always going
Here today, but the wind is blowing
The miracle of life
And the stars and night

It's in the trees that mother grows
It's in, the sun upon my skin, sand between my toes
And it's all just a gift...
I'm grateful for mine
This is all just a gift...
& I'm grateful for time

When I return to the earth
Please, celebrate the cycle
Call it my rebirth
Sing at the top of your lungs
And laugh while you dance

Cause I'm not gone
But I've done moved on
I'm in the corner of her smile
In that old sad song
I am the crashing waves
And the fading light

Always coming, Always going
Here today, but the wind is blowing
The miracle of life
And the stars and night

It's in the trees that mother grows
It's in, the sun upon my skin, sand between my toes
And it's all just a gift...
I'm grateful for mine
This is all just a gift...
& I'm grateful for time

All that I am, All that I'll be
Every moment
...in the life of a forgotten man
It'll all be returned
It's a matter of time

Forget redemption, forget revenge
I wanna savor every moment
wanna breathe life in
I want the simple things
And acres of land
I want the simple things
I wanna be a good man

Always coming, Always going
Here today, but the wind is blowing
The miracle of life
And the stars and night

It's in the trees that mother grows
It's in, the sun upon my skin, sand between my toes
And it's all just a gift...
I'm grateful for mine
This is all just a gift...
& I'm grateful for time
